My dad has a 14 in hp pavilion(not sure which model) which always takes forever connecting with our D-link abg router, particularly when my sister is running her ibook at the same time.

Since we have a linksys router lying around I was wondering if connecting it to the D-link and having them both run simultaneously would help speed up his connection.

You only have one connection, so you can not connect both the ISP. You can use the second router to expand your system. Some router do not handle multiple connections very well. Then there are routers/switches that allow you to restrict bandwidth.

I have daisy chained 2 routers, no ill effet.

when I get my notebook, it will be 3.. lol.

just I found the best thing to do is DMZ the ones pluged into the main unit.

Please, for the love of everything good and natural, get a switch. They can be had for a very good price these days. Then if you need multiple wireless networks use access points.

    Here's a good Netgear model

To the OP, try forcing all the laptops into the same wireless mode, G would probably be best.

Multiple routers will not speed up your connection. They can be use to expand your system. If both are using wireless, you are dividing the bandwidth between 2 computers.

Having a switch and being a switch are two separate things.
