This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     I am currently using a 6mbs download speed from comcast, however anytime I download a bittorrent file at say 20 kbs my whole internet lags ;( Does anyone know if this is normal or not?

    it might be depending on how many half-open connections there are just waiting. Are you using a router or direct connect?

    I think Comcast is blocking/restricting bandwidth.

    which router? I know that when I used a Linksys WRT54G with stock firmware, it would happen just like you seem to be describing. Just too many half-open connections left waiting for too long the router to be able to try to get any new data.

    I am using the dlink xtreme N router, I talked to a sales rep and they said my huge slowdown was a result of the skype phone I am using
