    I am currently using a 6mbs download speed from comcast, however anytime I download a bittorrent file at say 20 kbs my whole internet lags ;( Does anyone know if this is normal or not?

    it might be depending on how many half-open connections there are just waiting. Are you using a router or direct connect?

    I think Comcast is blocking/restricting bandwidth.

    which router? I know that when I used a Linksys WRT54G with stock firmware, it would happen just like you seem to be describing. Just too many half-open connections left waiting for too long the router to be able to try to get any new data.

    I am using the dlink xtreme N router, I talked to a sales rep and they said my huge slowdown was a result of the skype phone I am using
