    Hey everyone.

I have a problem I've been trying to find a solution for for awhile and cannot.

My download speeds seem to be capped at 1.6MB/s. Whether I'm downloading a file or running a Speedtest, it refuses to go higher than 1.6 (occasionally peaks at 1.7)

I'm connecting to an N router at full strength and 130Mbps with a 40-50Mbps Cable internet connection. My laptop has an Intel 6200 Wifi card in it, and it is an Asus G73SW with Windows 7.

I don't believe I've changed any crucial settings, and I've tried messing with all of them, nothing fixes it. So I'm stumped :p Anyone have any ideas? Its horrible to have a ~50Mbps (~6MB/s) connection and only be able to use 13Mbps of it.

    Thanks in advance.

Wireless network troubleshooting step one: what speeds are you getting when wired?

If Tijo's suggestion results in the same issue, can you try another computer via wireless?

Not a bad idea either. In the event that you get the speeds you're supposed to be getting wired, the next step would be to put the router on WPA2-AES encryption and N-only settings if you're operating on another security setting than WPA2 and/or mixed mode. You can also download inSSIDer to take a look at potential interference from other networks.

There is another laptop with an older intel 4965 card in it that gets full speed.

I will try through the wired connection tomorrow, good idea.

Did you try the windows power management and set wireless to "maximum performance"?
