Does the backup battery on an ONT do anything if I don't have phone service?

The backup battery in my ONT has been dead for a while now and I was thinking about getting my ISP to come out and replace it, but given that I don't have "landline" phone service and internet can't really be used during a power outage anyway since the router doesn't have a backup battery, I'm wondering if there's any point in bothering?

No, you are fine. Verizon for one even mentions it’s strictly for phone and won’t be used for internet during an outage. CenturyLink should be the same.
