How does it compare to cable internet?

I am referring to the Downstream speeds up to 18Mbps.

I've never used AT&T u-verse, but I have comcast cable Internet that has downstream speeds up to 20Mbps because I have a slightly higher package. I live in downtown SF so they're always keeping stuff up to date, such as DOCSIS 3.0 support.
