    Hello

I have a Compaq P71resario v61. Last week my wireless connectivity for wifi signals got strange. No matter the signal strength, the ability to connect and maintain connection became variable. Now the wifi icon in the system tray is gone and in my Network Connections I no longer have a Wireless Network Connection icon/shortcut. The laptop travels with me during the day but is always securely packed in a snug laptop bag and placed in a secure spot in my vehicle. Its fallen occasionally from short distances onto soft surfaces, but its been a while since that last happened.

I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on and how I can fix it?

    Thanks for your help.

For a wireless to disapear you may have a worm or virus. Look in device hardware and see if your wireless card is still listed. If not you will need to reinstall the drivers. But I would be doing some extensive scans to see if it was infected. If rather new and not a lot of stuff on it, I would consider a reload the OS. Sometimes that is the best way to get rid of worm infected machines. If by chance you were using Symantic AV & FW and your subscription expired, it took out your connection. It does strange things when it expires. Instead of just reverting back to original OS files, it's stay in place breaking the connections. Renewing does not correct the problem, as well as uninstalling. At least to the ones I have worked on.
