I switched to extreme plus about 3 weeks ago and got this lovely piece of garbage smc router/modem (SMCD3GN). I am suppose to be getting 25 mbit witch is lovely when it works. But my modem drops to docsis 2.0 for no reason. I have had 3 modem replacements. 2 technicians, 1 senior tech and an engineer come to my apartment and tell me that there is nothing they can do for me and i am to suck it up pay for what im getting now or downgrade to extreme.

When the modem switches from docsis 3.0 > 2.0 i lose anywhere from 5.0 mbit to upwards of 15 mbit. A simple reset of the modem will sometimes make it go back to docsis 3.0 but it will normally revert back to 2.0 in a matter of 10 minutes. I am starting to get very frustrated with rogers.

I know someone who works for them who says my area is nothing but problems and says there is old hardware in my area yet they still say its Docsis 3.0 compatible and sold me a service they cannot fulfill. They refuse to discount me. They say nothing is wrong. And i am ready to drop all my services and do without. Bell is the only other option but there not a choice due to major problems with them in the past.

Has anyone else had this problem? Every tech i have talked to has been stumped to my problem. The senior tech had seen it once before and he said it fixed its self over time. My opinion is that its the modem but i have gone through 3 of them already. The insider i know says its the hardware in the basement of my apartment and the cable lines that run into it. And the tech says there is no problem. What am i to do?

All of this is on Rogers in Richmond Hill, On in Canada. With the Rogers Extreme Plus Service : http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.po...se_1_2productID=W25A&_pageLabel=INTER_HISPEED
