    Hi,

I recently upgraded my internet to 15mbps DSL, and since my ISP is not shipping a new modem, I'm wondering if I'll need to buy a new one to get max speeds.

I'm using a 327w as the modem, connected to a linksys wrt300n router, to extend the wifi.

    Thanks!

Is it this one, or did I google wrong model:

Looking at the specs on that PDF file, it's originally 8/1Mbit max speed. I do not know what that upgradeable means, would it be software update or some hardware piece that has to be installed/replaced. That information should be available from the original vendor.

Yeah, you were right. 8mbps is the cap. I'm being told I would need to buy a new modem. I'm surprised the modem is no provided by verizon. :(

    Is this normal?

Find out what Docsis this modem is... If it's Docsis 1.0 or 1.1 - you'll need a new modem. If it's Docsis 2 it should still be good for now unless you upgrade to faster. If it's Docsis 3 then you're good.

If possible I would look into seeing if you can get a Docsis 3 modem. Many ISPs won't change the modem unless it's needed (ie if you subscribe to a speed that your modem doesn't support). It doesn't hurt to ask a local office and see.

    Take care,
    Shannon
