Apparently I can't get the turbo memory on my t61 and wwan at the same time, so my question is, do I really need wwan? I'm a college student.

My (limited) understanding of wwan is that it allows me to connect to the internet using cell phone lines for a monthly fee. Is this something a lot of people will be using in the future?

Hmm, depends really. :) I use a cell phone as modem, and many others do too. I think it's the future, but you will stay have to pay for it monthly (unless the university provides it for free).
I personally don't think it's worth the cost to get a wwan module, but that's me. :)

It's certainly the trends, perhaps the future is here when LTE or WiMAX do their show entrance. You can have a PCMCIA/PCI express card, or use your cell phone as a modem instead, but some plans are cheaper if you use the latest option because the data upload is included, even the caveman knows it :D

Another way to look at it is, do you need the turbo memory?
