I just purchased a Dlink Dir-655. I didn't open it yet so I wanted to know how difficult is it to install/use for 2 laptops. This will be my first time messing around with a wireless router but I am a little computer literate. Is it easy enough for a noob?

You shouldn't have any trouble (well, ok, no more than just a little bit of trouble) provided you read the setup brochure and the user manual with a bit of care first.

Had it for about 5 months now. Using it in Wireless G/N mode, bridged to a Linksys wireless B router on its own network. Very easy to set up (1-2 Hrs. tops, including getting the bridging to work in conjunction with the old router). I spent countless hours researching about 10 different wireless routers, and the DIR-655 combines the best signal strength, range, speed, and cost-effectiveness of any router out there. And D-Link's warranty is supposed to be pretty good, though of course I haven't had the opportunity to use it.

    Had mine for ages.
Latest firmware now enables the USB port to act as a storage/printer server, not just a USB key port.
Great for pluggin a HD or USB printer and sharing it wirelessly.

The DIR-855 is even better but way more expensive.
DLink are very good with Firmware upgrades, by the time 11n gets finalised (now I see 2010) the router will need replacing as 450 or even 600Mbps routers will be out.

For $95 the DIR-655 is a great buy.
Easy to setup with wizards and a ton of settings for advanced users to play with.

One gripe, I had to disable 'Automatic Classification' in QoS engine as it didn't allow me to surf and torrent at once took some time to work out.
This feature was added in a later FW release.

I got this router on black friday for $77 shipped to me.

After reading probably 1000 reviews on newegg of various wireless routers, this is the only one that had very few negative reviews and i got the best overall feeling about this router.

It was not hard at all to setup, i had my 3 wired desktops and 2 wireless laptops running on the internet within 30 minutes.

I get 100% wireless signal strength using wireless N in my dv7t and my brothers macbook gets full strength everywhere in the house, even the farthest point away from the router.

Will recommend this router 150%, the only negative i found are the blue lights on the front are BRIGHT.

When installing it, it comes with an app called Network Magic, i recommend not installing it, it is quite useless and its only a trial anyway, so do not even waste your time installing it.

What do you need to know?
I just followed the directions it came with, gave ssid a name and password from the control panel and that was all
