    Hi everyone,

Was wondering if anyone could offer some advice.

I have been using the about router for the last 2.5 ish years with almost no issues. Recently however I can hardly connect to it, there are times, like now where I have no issues. Most of the time it's just a nightmare.

My wife and I are running 2 laptops, a PS3 and our phones through the router. We moved house, from a condo, last year and have nothing but issues since. I bought a repeater last year to boost the signal, that doesn't seem to be the issue though as the signal strength rarely goes below 100% and the signal quality is always 'excellent'.

When I bought the router I was using it in G/N mode, my sadly RIP 3 year old Lenovo T61P was N capable, her T60 wasn't. Now we just run it in G (or G/N mode) as G is the maximum speed for her laptop (and my work one I am typing on right now).

Of the local visible networks we have a next door neighbor on G channel 11 and another on G channel 7, that's it in terms of visible networks. We are on G channel 3.

The transmit rate on our router goes from 54mbps to 1mbps to 32mbps to 1mbps to 54mbps within 5-10 secs. Most of the time it's stuck at 1mbps. I have set the transmit rate at 54mbps but it doesn't stop it fluctuating. When I can connect to the router after a period of inactivity I will log into it and reboot it and sometimes it'll be fine. Sometime I have to resest the whole thing and upload the config file to the router to reset it. When I have reset it and the security is off there is no issues connecting.... Great.

I have tried turning Channel Auto off, selecting channels, changing from G to G/N to just B or G/B mixed. Nothing seems to help.

It isn't a problem with just one laptop either, when the laptops cannot connect I can't connect with the PS3's or phones...

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated! :D

Thanks! I'll give that a try. The only thing I couldn't do was the bandwidth, it's not an option on G only. On the orig config 'Short GI' was checked and 'WLAN Partition' was unchecked.

If this fixes it you have cyber friend for life!! :D

    Thanks again.
