    Hello everyone

My wifi has been driving me crazy this past week. It literally disconnects every 5 seconds, then reconnects, then disconnects, and so on. I thought it would be my laptop, but i tried it with my college's wifi, and it works fine. So i called Netgear, and they told me to download a new firmware, access my router ( http://123.456.7.8..etc), then upload it. So i hang up, try to access my router, try the username and password, and it wouldn't log in. I call back to ask how to retreive it, and he helped me through it. Then i asked for more information and they said since my warranty's out they can't help anymore. So i log in, try to upload the firmware, then this message pops up:

Firmware upgrade failed. Please check your file.

This page will automatically return to the previous page in a few seconds...

WTF. I'm dying here to have wifi again. This sucks so bad, PLEASE HELP, PLEASE!

    Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. This has been happening again. I didn't want to post a new thread, so i thought i'd bring this back up. Does anyone have a guide on how to download (and update) new router firmware? Thanks in advance.

I'm just here to comment on the title and how much I love it because I myself am one that exaggerates all the time with (2 seconds and 5 seconds etc.) and the fact that I read it and figured you meant like every 10 minutes but then it followed with literally was awesome. :D

    Good Luck!

It would be nice to know what model router you are working on. If your doing a major revision netgear recommends that you reset the router back to factory settings before the upgrade.

Try a direct connect without the router, to retrieve the file. Then put the router back in place. ALL WAYS USE A LAN CABLE TO PREFORM ANY ANY FIRMWARE UPGRADES AND MANAGMENT/CONFIG. Wireless is dropped during the firmware upgrade and some admin changes. Once the upgrade has suscessful with the upgrade, power down the router and do a cold boot. Then you can do your setup.

Go to customer support downloads, then select your model. The link will be at the bottom of the page.

I am a macintosh technician and every time I have come across this, it has been linked to the rotating screen wallpaper, even with apple images.

If you have it to switch every 5 seconds it gets really bad, I have mine set to about 1 minute and it works fine now. However, on some machines having it enabled at all causes this.

Try using just 1 single wallpaper.

*EDIT*WHoops noticed this is an old post, but this might help users who encounter this issue on the newer machiens*EDIT*
