I bought a Dell xps M1330 a couple of weeks ago and so far everything has worked fine for me.

Today when i turned it on the wireless network refused to work. The wireless card had been disabled and I can no longer enable it (not with the switch on the computer and not under network settings in windows). The card is enabled in BIOS and the drivers works fine (I tried installing the latest from Intel).

I have a Intel WiFi 4965AGN card and Im running windows vista home premium.

    What might be the problem?

I've got no idea. Maybe try a system restore?

Ok i will try system restore, but Im not sure it will work. Do you think the problem is hardware related? The IRQ for the wireless card is strangely high (9 digits or so) compared to the other IRQ:s that are below 30. Is this significant?

I am really in need of help here! =)

EDIT: Tried system restore - it did not work, i could not even restore to a date old enough to fix the problem, just got a standard erro msg when the computer had rebooted saying that system restore did not work and that no settings had been saved.

    **** it!

Yes that is strange that the IRQ is such a big #. So you're saying that the wireless card refuses to be enabled ? Go into Device Manager and uninstall the wireless NIC (Network Interface Card). Then restart the computer and re-install the latest drivers. (So get the drivers before hand using another computer and save it on an external HDD or usb flash drive etc.)

That's a good idea - in the post where the OP said he reinstalled the drivers, he didn't mention whether or not he had uninstalled them first. If they're not uninstalled first, the reinstallation frequently won't fix whatever the problem is.

I tried uninstalling, restarting and reinstalling latest drivers from Intel.

Guess what? No luck... This is running on my nerves, I am actually considering calling Dell support even though i know they wont be able to help me at all...

    Any other ideas?

You may need to login as Admin to turn the port on. If grayed out it usually means you do not have access rights.

Blue68f100: I only have one user account on the computer and it has administrator rights.

I think it is a hardware problem. I called Dell support and they are sending over a technician to replace the wifi card and antennas (thank you Dell for excellent support!).

Thanks anyway for the help attempts guys!

I'm having the same problem with the XPS.. and I've bought it last October.. funny thing was, the techs that are working tonight seems to me they were just messing with me because nothing has been solved. Dell techs, 1 guy and 1 girl don't hear well, on top of that they didn't listen to my problem. Second, they kept asking me what my Service Tag was when I kept giving it them, and then when it got through, they say I'm no in the system. First dude made me repeated 6 times and the girl made me repeat it 8 times...

Seriously... I only bought a dell cause my uncle said they were good. But when problems hit, I swear the techs are useless... the tech last time told me to reset everything and what not.. I still don't get connection sometimes..
My close friends $400 Acer could connect anywhere with wireless, and I paid $2000 for my XPS and it's giving me problems... Dell isn't doing anything about it either... sorry for typing this long, but I just gotta blow off some steam..
