ok.. so my dad is barrowing a dell laptop from his work

he was outside and turned it on and a few minutes later comes back in "it doesn't detect any satelites.."

    My mom "what"

My dad "it doesnt' connect to the internet so it can't do anything I want it to do"

Ok.. I"m just making sure here.. dell laptops use the same thing everything else uses to connect wirelessly right? they do use the nearest possible source of internet in this case it would be our tower in our house a 2wire router right?

anyway.. how would we go about connecting to the net on that laptop?

    assumings its even wifi compatiable?

    (I haven't touched it yet x.x)

You'd do it the same as you would any other laptop? Assuming he has enough administrative permissions on the laptop to change the required settings. Business machines are sometimes funny.

I'm not sure, but maybe the keybord on your laptop can turn the wirelessnetworkcard on or of. With my laptop i have to type: "Fn" + "F11". Then my wirelessnetworkcard is turned on.
