hi, like the post says i have an inspiron 8600 with a Dell truemobile 1300 wirless card. my question is this, recently ever since formatting my computer last week my wirless signal has been significantly lower than it previously was. (and significantly lower than another 8600 thats running in the same house and area). When i reformatted i also installed an ATI radeon 9600 video card.... is it possible that i somehow messed with the antennae? (where is the antennae located) or is this possibly a driver issue, since i had to redownload them from the dell site. thanks for any help :)

You probably didn't damage the antenna, it's located in the monitor housing, so it's pretty hard to break. The video card shouldn't be an issue either, that's a supported card in the 8600. It's most likely a driver issue...have you downloaded XP SP2? You might also try switching the router to channel 11 or 1 just to see if that helps. The other thing you could do to test the hardware would be to switch the wireless card with the 8600 that works. That would possibly help you isolate the issue.
