    Dell e1705 ethernet controller shows ?

    I've removed my ethernet controller and then reinstalled my broadcom 440 driver as suggested, but my ethernet controller comes back with a ?. What do I need to do? I saw the thread below and I have basically the same issue. can't get my ethernet controller therefor having trouble connecting to my home wireless router. Thanks for any help.

    After reinstallation of drivers on my Dell Inspiron E1705 after a reformat, im getting a yellow question mark next to :
    OTHER DEVICES:
    1.Base System Device
    2.Base System Device
    3. Base System Device
    4.Network Controller
    5.Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

    as in drivers are not installed.It seems the driver cd doesnt have model specific drivers and by default the cd installs drivers meant for some other model.

    Please help!!

    you need the "chipset" driver. download it from dell's support website.

    Dell - Support

    when reinstalling always get the latest drivers from the website.

    hey thx a lot...i downloaded d chipset drivers u suggested.although the base system question mark has gone but the question marks next to:
    network controller
    and video controller (vga compatible)
    still remain.what drivers do i download for this?
