My M1330 works perfectly except for the wifi, it just doesn't work at all. The problem began when I had Vista and back then I couldn't connect to the internet at all - with or without the Ethernet chord. I had Windows 7 installed on it and the net works when plugged in but i still have no wifi. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Is the Wi-Fi card visible in the device manager?
If it is- is it installed properly (no yellow exclamation mark)?

While we're at it- what card is it?

Sounds like a case of missing of bad driver installation to me. Either that or a badly seated card.

Go to the Dell Support site and download the drivers for the Wireless Card you have, first check to see if it is visible. Use SIW (the free version), install it and open it. Click on the Network Adapters part and it will show you if it's active or not. If it's not recognized do the above and restart your machine and go from there to trouble shoot the problem.

Check if internal wireless is disabled in the bios. Press F2 at the Dell logo.

It should show up in the program I mentioned, there should be two things, one which is a BroadCom Ethernet port the other which should be your wireless card.

So it turns out my card is actually missing. Planning to buy a new one - any recommendations?

Intel 6200 would be good (but not 6230)

sorry to bump this old thread, but why not the 6230?

i'm looking at replacing a fried wireless card in my m1330 and the idea of integrated wifi/bluetooth/widi sounded too good to be true.

what are my limitations when looking for a new card?

There are knows issues with throughput being very low on some notebooks and another issue that I wasn't aware of until few days ago is this.
Mostly Dell users seem to suffer bur since these issues happen on different notebooks and with different 6230s (Dell replaces them) and on top of it issues stop if 6230 is replaced with a different card I would be hesitant to recommend 6230.
