I am about to buy a Dell XPS 17 and I see an option to upgrade the wireless card from the stock Wireless-N 1000 all the way up to the Advanced-N 6230 at a cost of $35 more. I can't connect to any wireless connection at work (laptop would be used offline for Blu-rays and such) and my home network has a max speed of 3mbp/s downstream (DSL...I live in the country). This is fine for internet browsing, email etc. They are upgrading the lines and I"ll be able to get 12mbp/s soon.

Is it worth me spending the $35 to get the better wireless card?

If you just using only the internet ie browse the web, watch random clips online... the 1030 is more than enough.

6230 has Bluetooth on chip while 1000 doesn't so it's not only the question of Wi-Fi itself but also do you need BT or not.
