Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron6400/E1505 using Windows XP. I have a Motorola 3347 DSL/wireless modem. I do have wireless connectivity. My problem is that whenever I put my computer in standby or shut down and turn the computer back on, my Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card does not come on with the system automatically. Everytime I turn my computer on, I have to:
    1. go to control panel
    2. clk administrative tools
    3. clk services
    4. clk wireless zero config
    5. push the start button and then ok
    6. back to control panel
    7. clk on network connections
    8. rt clk wireless network connection
    9. clk properties
    10. select the wireless networks tab
    11. check the box "use windoes to configure my wireless network settings"
    12. clk ok

With doing this, my wireless 1390 WLAN-Card will turn on and I can the go wireless. Does anyone know how I can fix this so my wireless card will come on automatically with computer start-up? Thanks

BTW...I just started using DSL last week (been on dial-up) and this problem started from the very beginning.

In WZC service is the Start Type set to Automatic ?
It may be set to disabled.

You could set it to manual and leave it enabled at all times

Thanks for your reply. In wireless zero config, the startup type is set to Automatic.

Make sure you've got all of your various drivers and firmware up-to-date, in particular, the chipset drivers. There are a lot of "issues" in the various chipsets with USB and sleep, many of which ultimately get a work-around in the firmware put out by the system's OEM, in your case, _Dell.
