Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I bought the following Intel 5300 card which is certified to work in a Dell according to the advert > eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

I installed the card fine, replacing my old Intel 3945ABG and the laptop can detect the device but using the latest intel drivers won't install the device and gives an error code 10.

I have connected the cables as directed by someone who has already got this combination working ( Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 with Dell Vostro 1700 - SmallNetBuilder Forums. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on different drives / BIOS settings / anything else to try and troubleshoot this issue or it is likely to be faulty hardware?

    Thanks,
    Morf

Uninstall all wireless driver software. Reboot the computer again. Plug in directly to the modem or router. Go to the intel driver site and run the automated driver finder and install the complete driver package again.

Thanks for the advice, tried the above with no luck. Worth a reinstall of Windows or it's now likely to be a hw issue. Although the advert says it's not, perhaps it's an IBM / HP only 5300
