I have a Dell Latitude D430 that has a Broadband Gigabet Ethernet on the board, and only connects at 10 MBPS via the CAT 5 connection.

I have checked everything. I have used different CAT 5 cable, I have confirmed that the drop on the wall is good. I even used a different drop, and it stills comes up 10 mbps. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for the NIC.

I made sure that the Speed & Duplex on the NIC is on Auto.

So my question is, first : What could be making that laptop only achieve 10 MBPS ? ! I can I fix it ?

I called Dell, and they really were no help.

To what are you connecting the laptop? You have to give a lot more information about your network configuration before we can recommend anything.

i was hoping someone here could help me out...I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. i had a tech check the connection from the drop to the switch, and everything is fine. so it is not the connection..... it has to be the laptop...but what exactly ...i don't know.

If you connect your laptop to another network that runs at 100/1000, does it show 100/1000? If it does, then the problem is with your work's network. If it still shows 10, then there's a problem with your laptop.
