    hey guys,
hopefully someone can help me out! im about to buy a Dell Inspiron 6400 in Canada, and im reading alot about connection issues and whatnot when going wireless. I am new to the wireless world, as ive always had only one computer. But im going back to school in september and have decided to get a laptop. Dell Canada only offers the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card, and that seems to be a troublesome card. Is the problem easy to fix? or is it only certain routers that cause this issue, or what?! i'm getting kinda scared about making such a big purchase, to only use it for hmwk and no msn or web surfing!!!! haha. I'm also looking for a router that will give me broad reach, as my desktop will be staying put, but i would like to take the notebook throughout the home! any help would be great you guys! PLEASE!

It should be fine. Don't worry. They are getting better all the time and I believe that the drops have been a lot less frequent with driver updates. If you are unhappy with the wireless card when you get the computer just call dell and they will send you a new one. Or if you are truly concerned call dell to place the order and ask them to put in their version of the wireless card

will they put a dell wireless card into the laptop even though it isn't listed as an option?

They might. The intel card has worked flawlessly for me; and many other users. The only issue would be if you wanted to run some version of linux--then the dell card is a better choice.
