Okay Well I got a problem with my dell inspiron 1520 notebook..

My internet connects fine andd dandy but for some reason is extremely slow but My pc next to it running off same router runs fine and i've tried everything to resolve it It seems to load pages somewhat fast but when I speedtest I get unusually slow speeds ONLY on this pc

The laptop has a Intel Wifi Link 4965AGN

And my router is a linksys WRT54GS 802.11B/G

currently my settings on the laptop for my wireless are this

802.11n Channel Width : Use Default Value
    802.11n Mode: Disabled
    Ad Hoc Channel: 802.11b/g 6
Ad Hoc Power Management: Use Default Value
Ad Hoc QoS Mode: Use Default Value
Fat Channel Intolerant: Use default Value
    HD Mode: Enabled
    Mixed mode protection: RTS/CTS Enabled
    Power Management: Use default Value
    Roaming Aggressiveness: Highest
    Throughput Enhancement: Enabled
    Transmit Power: Use Default Value
    Wireless Mode:802.11b only

My Wireless router is set to 802.11b ONly as well on channel 6 So I don't know what the problem is and it doesnt seem to be any better if I practically stand in front of the router IM getting an excellent signal in my room and everywhere around the house.. But its obvious something is wrong..

Any ideas would be appreciated Thanks

    1) Set your router and wireless card to use 802.11g. g is a lot faster than b.
    2) Set your router to either channel 1 or 11, whichever one is less crowded in your area. Channel 6 is usually the most crowded channel.
    2) If you're running Vista, turn off IP V6 for your wireless card.

Did all that.. No I'm not running vista I was but got sick of it so I just now installed XP..

But anyway I did all the other steps...Still getting about the same speedtest results but when I hover my mouse over the wireless connection its not 11mpbs anymore its @54mbps so I don't know whats goin on

Do your speeds go up when you connect the laptop to the router with a LAN cable?

What are you getting for speeds on this site?

Do a test at the same site after connecting the laptop to your router with a LAN cable, and post the numbers.

hey, I can say that with no problem. Love Canada, and hate your government. Come to think of it, I hate my gov't too! :p

BTW, I have Vista, any drawbacks to your suggestion here:

"2) If you're running Vista, turn off IP V6 for your wireless card."
