    Dell C400 and adding wireless card

    I just purchased a Dell C400 off ebay. I'll just wanted this for very basic use. But, I want to be able to go to the local coffee shop to check my email. This particular laptop didn't come with a wireless card and I want to add one. But, I know nothing about this. So, I was wondering if someone could give me advice on which card will work with this laptop. I am looking for something fairly inexpensive. Thanks

    You have 2 options.

    1. PCMCI 11g card can be had for ~$30 or less of eBay.
    2. USB 11g card.

    You will find the PC card (PCMCI) to be the most convient.

    I had heard there were only specific brands and models of cards that would work with this Dell. Is this true?

    Thanks for the advice so far. I guess what I'm really asking is, how do you decide which card to buy? Are there compatibility issues? Where can I find out which cards will work with my laptop?

    I don't think Dell implements any restrictions, as long as the card will fit. I replaced the Intel wireless card in my E1705 with a Gigabyte Atheros card with no problem. I'd say if you are worried about compatability, go with an Intel card.
