A couple months ago the wireless internet quit working on my dell studio 1555. The wireless works for about a minutes at a time then looses all signal. Sometime after disabling wireless I can turn it on (15 minutes or longer waiting) and it will briefly work again. It doesn't matter which network I'm trying to connect to I've tried several. So far I've tried re-installing the driver but that didn't help. Is there anything else I can do myself to fix it. I know how to replace it, but I just don't know if the adapter is the problem. thanks

did you reinstall the same driver version as before? or did you try other versions? Versions from Dell or from Intel directly?

The drivers were directly from intel. I think it's a newer version than it came with. It has a date of 1/19/2011. I also forgot to mention the computer is a couple years old and the problems started suddenly. The computer has windows 7 and it's 64 bit.

When it loses all signal, does it totally disconnect from the router? As in, the wireless strength disappears? or does it go to a red x?

It disconnects, but I can still see the network. When I try to reconnect it says windows is unable to reconnect. I try the troubleshoot button, but it doesn't help.

Did you just add the driver to the current intel wireless software or did you uninstall everything and download and install the complete wireless software package.

I am having the same exact issue with the 5100 wireless card in my Dell 1555. Did you find a fix. I tried just about everything. Downloading the new driver doesn't fix the issue. This is very frustrating, it see's the wireless router but will not connect. The signal strength is excellent. When i first set up the new Netgear router it worked. Then a day later it would connect then disconnect. Then a day later not connection at all. Someone please help!

Same problem being experienced here as well. While I can see wireless networks within range, both open and secure such as my home network, attempts to connect all fail.
My Dell is about 2 years old and had been working great. Was on wireless one night and the next day it's not working.
Thanks in advance for any solutions.
