    Hey everyone:
I am unable to connect to the router in my apartment. My boyfriend can connect his laptop so I dont think it is the router. I am able to connect through ethernet, so I don't think it's my laptop either. When I open up the wireless network, there are no networks that come up (even though there are several that I have found using my boyfriends). When I first got my laptop a few years ago I remember that I used to be able to find tons of networks and somewhere along the line it stopped working. The strange thing is that when I go to my university with my laptop, my computer automatically connects to their wireless without me having to do anything. I am using a Dell inspiron 1520 running XP. If anyone could help, that would be great I'm getting frustrated being tied down by this stupid ethernet cable! :(
Oh! Also I tried updating the drivers and it said there wasn't anything newer than what I have now...
    Thanks!
    Rachael

Can you connect if you input manually your wireless router settings (SSID/network name, security type, encryption type, security key/passphrase)?
