My XPS is flawless works perfectly but a few moments after I plug this in, there is some sort of a conflict where it will pretty much hang the system, wont be able to boot as explorer will not respond.

There doesn't seem to be any driver for it on the dlink website either, so I waswondering if anyone had some thoughts.

Have you tried plugging it in after you have already booted the machine, so the drivers can be installed first? What does the manual say to do (If it came w/ one) ? And most importantly, What OS are you running?

Running Vista, yep, if it plugs in after the machine has booted, it will take a bit of time but it will eventually crash explorer, the first thing i notice is the removalble USB hard drive no longer gets recognized.

The manual doesnt mention much of anything about conflicts.

I also checked on the website it seems that there is no "required' drivers for it.

    Bleh :)

Ok, I don't know much about USB in the technical sense, but it could be an IRQ conflict issue.

    1. Check for any yellow (?!) error signs in "Device Manager" for the USB Host. Check "Event Viewer" as well, it might give you some errors pertaining to the USB Host as well.

    2. Have you tried another USB port?

    3. If you plug it in with the computer off, then turn on the computer, you're saying it doesn't load the GUI after you enter your username/password?

(BTW, this thread should be under hardware)
