Would you consider cable instead? Comcast has speeds up to 50MB.

that is true but from my experience its always higher than DSL guess its depends on what kind of net surfer you are and if you stream, download/upload a lot.

for the OP: AT&T in Northern Cali sucks. I know friends that have it and myself would always have to reboot the modem a few times a month due to disconnections. I'm not sure how AT&T is down there but it can get pretty bad up here. I miss Pac-Bell DSL, never had issues compared to when AT&T took over. I'm not saying its happening to all DSL customers up here but I have noticed it happening to myself & all my friends. Just something to consider when you are looking for a DSL company.

Depends on where you live and which ISP you have. I have shaw cable with rated speed of 7.5Mbit/s. But i'm consistantly getting 25-30Mb+ connection for no extra charge.

If you subscribe to internet service with connection speed of more than 20Mbit/s, you should consider changing to lan or get wireless N. "cheap" wireless G will be maxed out at around 20Mbit/s. Mine maxed out at 15Mbit/s on a 30Mbit/s connection. :<

DSL is cool, being using for years, since the conception. One ISP better than the others? hard to pinpoint, depending on the area coverage, where you located. Do your research and stay with the lowest cost possible.

HBQ is correct in that you'd ever hardly get the max advertised performance, whoever you go with.

    cheers ...
