i got a wireless router a couple of weeks ago and i've been having problems with it for a week now. when i'm online i seem to just randomly lose internet connection. also, whenever i just turn on my notebook and at the very first time i try to use the internet (first thing i do is sign on to msn messenger) i get a a message that says that the DNS is unable to resolve IP adresses. the msn messenger actually has a repair function that seems to fix the problems, but i'd rather not rely on that.

so how can i resolve this? i'm using linksys v.5. i got it because i heard the brand was good and it was before i read about problems with that version. i'm afraid buying a new one soon is not an option.

You should contact Linksys customer support. Unfortunately that hardware version (not sure if you are using WRT54G or WRT54GS) really is a huge piece of garbage and the only people that could possibly help are Linksys themselves.

Depending on where you bought the router, you could always complain how bad the router is and demand your money back. If you bought it from an electronics store like Bestbuy/Circuit City, they should have a 30 day money back guarantee, and I would definitely take advantage of it.

Unless you can get v4 or earlier, I would look at D-Link or Netgear instead of Linksys.
