You gotta remember that 130 is maximum speed for 2.4GHz and Intel adapter because of 20mhz channel width restriction on the adapter. Only 40mhz channel will (5GHz band on Intel) will give you 300Mbps. That's why I got the simultaneous dual band 855, so I could set up my lappy on the 5GHz band and not be restricted by the G devices on my network, which essentially put me back in the narrow band 2.4 mhz channel range.

Are your desktop pc's wired or wireless? What adapters do they have if wireless? Your intel card is probably restricted because the wrt160n (2.4GHz only, I think) won't broadcast 40mhz wide channel. I could be wrong tho...definitely have been before.

1st of all thanks for the reply :)

    Both pcs are wireless.
    1 : wifi adapters = WMP300N
2 : WRT160N supports 40mhz as both the pcs are connected at 40mhz
    3 : WRT160N Firmware : DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/25/08) std - build 10991M NEWD Eko

I think what I meant to say is it won't do 40MHz in the 5GHz range, because there isn't one. And I'm just guessing. Can you confirm this? Does the 160n operate in the 5GHz spectrum? It was the only thing that made sense. If it doesn't then you won't get above 130.

Yea, it does not support 5ghz, its only 2.4ghz.

    One more noobish question, how much speed [ I mean in MegaBytes/sec ] should I get between my wireless pcs [ connected @ 270mbps ] and the dv5 [ connected @ 135mbps] ?
