I have a DIR-655 Router that is connected to a DIR-628 router acting as an access point. I need the gigabit ethernet from the DIR-655 and when looking for an AP, I found a great deal on the DIR-628 a while ago. I've been using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi all along, but now that both of my laptops support 5GHz N I'd prefer to use that.

My DIR-628 flashes 2.4GHz light even with 5GHz band selected, and yes I chose save settings, it rebooted. I even unplugged and replugged back in.

I don't know if it's because it is acting as an AP or if there's something wrong. Is there way to confirm 5GHz band? I don't see a way to force 5GHz only on my Intel 5300 AGN card.

I don't know if I fully understand you but if you want to confirm that the router is actually running at 5GHz why don't you run inSSIDer and make it scan 5GHz band.
You could also manually choose a channel (any of the 5GHz ones) and verify that inSSIDer confirms your network works on the chosen 5GHz channel.

Great thanks. Not sure I fully understand what the program is showing me, bu on the lower right when I click "5GHz" it shows my router there, and "2.4GHz" it shows my other router running at that frequency. So I guess it is running at 5GHz, just for some reason only the 2.4GHz frequency LED is flashing.
