    Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I've tried some searches but did not find anything on this particular topic so here goes...

I have 2 M1210s with the DELL W 1500 Draft 802.11n card configured in adhoc mode, 802.11n, 5GHz, 40MHz channel width - 270Mbps link according to DELL WLAN utility. When I configure WEP (encryption only) with 64 or 128 bit key my TCP throughput between the laptops drops by roughly 60% (~110Mbps down to ~38Mbps). I have my own benchmark Key size doesn't seem to matter much but using WEP sure seems to... To enable the encryption all I did was basically initialize the network key fields in one of the panels in the WLAN utility.

I know WEP is a poor choice for security but I used it because it was quick. Also, I haven't seen any hooks/handles for configuring WPA although the card (based on Broadcomm reference design) apparently has hardware to support it.

    Appreciate any thoughts.
    Bob

Drivers for 11n are work in progress, what's it like being a beta tester???? Make sure you have the latest drivers. There should be v2.0 drivers out soon, 1.1 should be out at the latest.

    Thanks for the response.

I believe I have the most up2date drivers - network driver is March 07, and also downloaded the latest BIOS update. I noticed there are other downloads but none seemed relevant.

I also tried 64 and 128 bit keys with an 802.11a link and got wierd results as follows.
    Security Throughput
    None ~23Mbps
    64bit key/open ~11Mbps
    128bit key/open ~23Mbps (tried it twice - go figure!)
