I cannot compare the DIR-665 and the WRN3500 as I have only used the DIR-665 and Linksys WRT310N. I first purchased the Linksys WRT310 when I bought my new Windows Vista laptop. I insured that the box said and had the Vista logo. Unable to connect to the internet wirelessly for one week after setup and installation I called Linksys support. After spending almost three hours on the phone with tech support she blamed my new laptop for my inability to connect to the internet wirelessly! When I hung up with tech support, I did extensive research on setting up a wireless network with Vista. My research lead me to believe that the Dir-665 had worked the best for most other Vista users. At this point I still time to return the Linksys router to Best Buy and exchanged it for the Dir-665. Once I returned home I setup and installed the Dir-665 and was online within 20 minutes. I had a few problems with the Network Magic program so I uninstalled and everything was a breeze after that. My desktop is Windows XP and I have another desktop which is XP but I don't that one setup on the network (my son is at college). What a big difference between both routers!

i've heard nothin but good things from the DIR-655 (also yielded one of the highest speeds of any current draft-n router, out of the box). i personally went with the linksys wrt350n. the wrt350n with the OEM linksys firmware was a baby migraine. after reflashin with DD-WRT v24...wow...it is like a brand new router. steady (5/5 bar reception most of the time) 130mbps throughout my house (upstairs and downstairs).

i haven't really heard too many good things about the wrt310n, but have read alot of negatives. if u'r willin to spend that much already, i'd either go with the DIR-655 or get a cheaper WRT150n and reflash it with DD-WRT.

It looks like Netgear is getting a beaten, but the number of data is very small, and perhaps not significant because most NBR's members don't buy expensive routers.

I agree...statistically it's a small sample. I know I haven't made up my mind. Perhaps I'm a tad spoiled with actual Cisco gear at my house :p

I really like the DD-WRT stuff on the Linksys line, but I don't know how the performance is. Houstoned says it's good. So maybe try the wrt350n as well.

Can any1 tell me what the significance is of the external antennas on some devices, while other devices have internal antennas... Is it just range, if so how impacting???

The problem with a poll like this is that very few people will have used even two of these...let alone all four. So how can they (we) compare them at all, other than just voting for the one they own?

FWIW, I own the DIR-655 and it's easily the best router I've ever owned, and I've been through a bunch. That said, none of those were any of the others in your poll.

External antennas perform better indeed, no doubt.
