I just moved back home and am trying to use my router to establish a network so I can use internet on my laptop. Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to do this? I can't seem to get it to work... I'm not sure if i am even putting the cables in right... thanks

When you connect the modem directly to your computer, does it work?

you need to clone the MAC address of your computer. your ISP uses this to control access to a certain computer. so we need to "trick" the ISP into thinking that the router is your computer by its MAC address.

hook your computer to the router, go to the router's configuration pages... then on the "Home" tab, click the "WAN" button on the left, and look for a button that says "Clone MAC Address" click that, then hit apply.

    Here's a link for the d-link website:
    http://support.dlink.ca/faq/view.as...DI-624_revB / DI-624_revC / DI-624S / DI-714P

    Good luck.

Try cloning your laptop's MAC address to the router's WAN port (Page 14 in the User's Manual). Power down the modem and the router. Connect the modem to the router. Power up the modem, wait 30 seconds, power up the router.
