    D-Link DI-524.....Mysterious Problem

    My D-link (DI-524) wireless keep disconnecting 2 laptops upstairs.......
    and the 3rd laptop in the room where the router never stop....!!!

    i deactivate the DHCP server.......then part of the problem solved....but it still disconnect other laptops but just for seconds....and i must put the ip manually...

    another problem appeared after deactivation of DHCP server.....>> i can not connect my ipod to the network cause it keep configure the ip in wrong way!!!

    so what should i do now!!! :cool: :cool:

    The problem is that it is a piece of crap. My friend had one he got for cheapo at worst buy and it did something similar, it also required a reset every 3-4 days with light net usage. Even assigning static ips with dhcp on, the thing would still freeze up, so it's just bad hardware.

    Replaced it with a $40 rt-n12, he hasn't called me with problems since.

    DI-524 is an old router so it may be failing because of this.
    You may try resetting it to factory default and updating firmware.
    Have you changed anything on those two laptops lately (Wi-Fi driver updates , new firewall etc.)?

    i did not reset..........
    nothing changed cause this problem since long time.

    BUT i note something ;
    this prob. appear commonly in the weekend when the 3 laptops open same time.........

    It may not be able to handle three laptops properly- it's a really low end device with a history of problems, one possible explanation is the router is too weak to handle encryption for three notebooks. I've seen this happening on D-Links built around that time- see what happens is you disable security.
    Although my recommendation would be to upgrade to something better.
    Your time spent solving this problem may not be worth more than a new decent router.
