That's very odd. It just started happening today. When I'd open all of these programs...

    Pidgin
    Ventrilo
    STEAM
    X-Fire

My router crashes, with all the lights turning on and staying solid. I'd have to reset my router. It just started happpening today all of a sudden.

kinda, odd just curious have you tried updating the firmware on the router? I've had experience with that router before and my only solution was to get a linksys router. No matter how much time i spent with dlink on the phone for tech support. The router would only stay up for a few weeks before i ran into a new problem.

How old is the router? Is there an excessive amount of heat being generated? Has there been any power surges to the router?

You can try doing a hard reset - that may fix the issue; then again, it may not help at all. Sometimes a router just dies, like any piece of hardware.

Those are all programs that open a large number of connections that pump information through.

It's pounding your router with a Huge NAT table and crashing it.

Sounds like to many symontainous connection is crashing the router. If firmware updated does not fix it, see if dd-wrt can be installed on your router. Also take a look on smallnetbuilder. They have a table giving how many connections a router can handle.
