I am currently using a switch with two computers, each with their own IP. I will soon be getting a laptop so I've bought a wireless router. Now I've set it up so that my computer and router is connected to the switch, and one computer my laptop will connect through the router. I'm doing it this way so that I can take advantage of the 2 IP's that I get with my ISP. But now that my computers aren't directly connected to the switch, I can't access them on the network. So with this setup, how can I network my computers?

If it matters, I was using the IPX protocol or something to network them through the switch.

Depending on what your IP's are, you may have one public (192.168.x.x) coming from the router and one private if that is what you ISP gives out. You many need to change the router config to bridge mode. The NAT and built in firewall is now killing the connection. If one is a server, have it on the switch. with the rest on the router. You can hit a private IP but not a public IP. I assume both are static IP's, if not you can use DynDNS to manage the IP address. Then put the pc in a dmz and use names instead of IP's.

Personally I would want both behind a router for security reason. The only reason not to is for a server to be access from the out side.
