    I have used Verizon 3g service since 2006. I use a cradlepoint router so I can share the signal. I was looking at Cradlepoints site and noticed the portable 3g/4g router with an extra battery is on sale till the end of march. It is 90 dollars below full retail and includes an extra battery. I have my brother using the modem and my portable router currently and have gone to dsl myself.
