I recently updated my wireless client (Intel PROSet) from version 9 to version 10. Unfortunately version 10 doesn't play well with hControl so I was forced to revert back to version 9.The problem is that my profiles were converted to version 10 files and now they don't import into version 9.

Does anyone know how to convert the profiles back so they do import?

I'm thinking you and I had the exact same problem today. If not then I apologize. Anyways, what I did to get intel proset to work after upgrading was:

    1. go to "add/remove programs" in control panel
    2. find "intel proset...."
    3. click on change/remove
    4. select modify...see if that works. if not, then try repair

That worked for me......Hopefully that was what you were looking for. I didn't revert back to the previous version either.

I am assuming you are running windows xp...

MinnDasota, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the modify section doesn't have any options for converting profiles.

When I uninstalled version 10 it asked me if I wanted to save my profiles my profiles in version 9 format. I selected this option but the uninstall had problems so it didn't do the conversion. Since the option was there, I'm wondering if there is some software provided with the program to do the conversion

Sorry I couldn't be of any help. I guess our problems were similar on the surface, but yours was a little more complex in what you wanted done.

Quick question though. Do you like using the Intel Proset wireless management tool over the windows wireless management tool?

Does anyone think one should be used over the other? Thanks...

Apart from the issues I'm having with version 10 crashing hControl and the profile problems, I definitely prefer PROSet over the windows tool.

Not only does PROSet find signals whose SSID's aren't broadcated,it also seems to connect more quickly and maintain a stronger signal.
