Apparently some company known as Kape Technologies has been acquiring a bunch of VPN companies. Their holdings include some popular providers, such as Private Internet Access, Cyberghost, and Zenmate. They just recently concluded a $936 million acquisition of ExpressVPN.

I've been using PIA for the last six months or so, but they've been owned by Kape for much longer, which I had no idea was the case. Like most VPN providers I want to stick with, they're good for about 6-12 months then turn to utter garbage, with slow speeds, buggy clients, and unresponsive customer support. I'm back on Nord for the time being as I was able to get a year's prepaid subscription thanks to some Best Buy gift cards I had. We'll see how this goes, but anyone who's interested in PIA, Cyberghost, or ExpressVPN should be aware of who owns these companies now.
