I recently got the Orinoco Gold wireless pc card. The external antenna connector it has is an MC type. I also have an external antenna (Hawking) which has an MCX pigtail adapter. Looking at them it seems to me that they should fit and they do but not quite. So is there a difference between these two types?

What I see is that on the pc card, the center hole in the connector is set back a little deep and I don't think the pin in the external pigtail can quite reach it because the outer part of the pigtail connector bottoms out on the shoulder of the pc card connector before the center parts can connect. Am I right in this or is this because of the difference between MC and MCX?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Yes, they are different, but you could try something like this:
