    Hi
I have had a dell inspiron 1525 for a while. Recently it hasnt been connecting to the wireless router in my house properly, unless i am very close to it. At longer distances where it worked before it doesnt connect at all, if i move closer sometimes it connects and then it stops working by either having limited access or the internet speed plummets so it doesnt work.

I am unsure where the problem is but my dads laptop is still working fine with the internet

I have updated my wireless card but apart from that i dont know what to do?

    any help please?

Which OS are you using? I know vista tends to be very picky about it even if it has been working for awhile.

Since your dad's laptop can still connect to your house wireless router without problem and what you have is likely a range issue, you might as well first check the antenna connection of your Inspiron wireless card. Although it shouldn't be easily detached, it still might, due to improper connecting and bumps along usage/transport.

Look at Dell Support website for your laptop's service manual to get details how to access the wireless mini card if you don't familiar in doing it.

But it could also be other issues, such as interference in the radio signal (although unlikely, because your dad's is fine - but try changing the wireless router channel won't hurt), and the worst, dying wireless card (although it could be cheaply replaced).
