I've got an old Compaq Armada E500 running Win2K with the latest service pack. It has a Compaq WLAN PCMCIA card and I am trying to connect it to a Linksys B/G router. It sees the router and connects to it (if you look at the router's client list the E500's MAC address is listed), but is not pulling down an IP address, leading to a 169.x.x.x IP. Release and renew in the command line interface doesn't seem to work. Any suggestion about what to check next would be greatly appreciated.

Double check that its set to Automatically Obtain IP addresses.

Check that your WLAN card supports the same security mode (WEP/WPA/WPA2) as your router.
