I have 2 notebooks, a dell and a new HP, that both have Intel 4965AGN adapters. I have a dlink DIR-625 router. The dell which I have had for over a year has never connected less than 130 mbps. The new HP connects anywhere from 26 to rarely over 100. It averages at around 65mbps. The settings are exactly the same on both notebooks and signal strength is excellent on both notebooks. What could be causing the HP to be getting such low connection speed? I also have a desktop that has a wireless G adapter that connects at its highest possible speed. The only issue has been with the new HP. Thanks in advance for the help.

It's all drivers issues. And add to the fact that MS has a completely different networking base, is is more sensitive. I do suggest make sure you have the latest drivers from HP. And remember 11n is still draft.

You might want to stop using the third party wifi software, and just use the Windows wifi manager. I've found the MS stuff to be much better on Vista than the third party apps.
