Hi, all. I am in great need of the wisdom on this board. This is my problem; I have a linksys wrt54GL router. Connected to this router is my pc via the ethernet port and my laptop wirelessly. Prior to purchasing my laptop and wireless router I ran a direct internet connection into my pc and was able to send files via mirc, serv-u ftp server, etc. The problem now is that I cannot send files to myself through mirc, I cannot setup a ftp server neither, and there are time sensitive media files that I need to transfer to my laptop. Here is the weird part of my problem, I can send from my laptop to my pc via mirc and aim, but I am unable to send to my laptop via the same methods.

I've never had the microsoft internet firewall enabled, neither do I have a personal firewall running on my pc. I've tried disabling the firewall on my router as well as assigning the lan connection to dmz, to no avail. My laptop is running only NOD32 antivirus and microsoft defender and to my knowledge they don't prevent file transfers.

I have tried to be as thorough as possible in explaining the situation and hopefully I can get some assistance. Thanks all in advance.

P.S. I've reset the router, and have played with numerous other settings. Still to no avail. I really need help with this problem. Please, any form of help would be very useful.

What wireless security settings are you running on the router?

I am using WPA AES. Would that prevent me from being to get files? I can get files on utorrent, I can get files from others on mirc, and I can get files from aim from other people. I just can't receive files from myself.

Why not trying to attach a wire? Atleast until you get your files transfered...
