    Hi,

I need to connect to two different wireless networks. On on network I have been assigned an IP and given all the relevant gateway/DNS infomation. On the other network this is all done by DCHP. Does anybody know of a way of switching between these environments without entering all the infomation manually every time?

    Hi Sudders,

Go to the Wireless Network Connection properties. Click on Internet protocol TCP/IP and then Properties button. There are two tabs. First one should have set all to automatic.

The second tab (Other configuration or something) should be set to use your "user" settings. Enter the IP, DNS and Gateway info.

This will set the following behaviour:
Notebook will try to get the IP through DHCP first. If you are on the "DHCP enabled" network - it will connect. If not you are obviously on the other network and it will apply the "user" setting from the other configuration, thus setting your comp to the desired settings of IP, DNS and Gateway.

It is always good to leave everything on automaic first and set the other settings when needed.

    I hope it helps,

    Ivan

Cheers. It seems that the second tab doesn't appear until you select automatic IP/DNS on the first tab.
