I have a desktop which has a DLink DI614+ Router which is connected to a
    DSL modem.
But the computer will be used so I will be left with only the router.

Having a wireless LAN card on my laptop, is it possible to connect to the internet via the router?

(My laptop has no ethernet port...If I can't use the wireless LAN card then have to buy a PCMCIA ethernet card[xx(][xx(][xx(])

    Yes, that should work.
