Well I am having some wireless issues on my Dell Inspiron 8600 as I pretty much always have. I am connecting to the wireless network in the house but I can't get the internet to work. Also it seems like it will randomly disconnect and reconnect at times. I just moved into this place sooo. Back at my old place I had a wirless router but had so many issues I just gave up and ran hardline all the time. I'd like to get the wireless working here as just about every day I'm wandering around with the computer. I appreciate any help I can get.

Is the wireless router getting an IP address from your cable/DSL modem?

I would say yes since the other person living in the house has been running the internet wirelessly without problems.

OK. Well the way it is set up is as follow.

It goes from the modem to a router. Then the router shoots out to all the ports is the house and also to a wireless router. There are 2 computers running vista in the house that nobody currently uses. The other person i'm living with has a new base HP laptop that has XP and works fine wirelessly. My old Dell laptop connects to the network but just won't work with the internet. It works fine when I plug it in. I'm running XP Pro. Why does wireless suck so much? Haha.
