Okay, so I just bought a new Dell E1505. with the Draft N Wireless card becuase I have a Draft N Wireless router. I can connect to the router (270 mbps), however, I cannot access the internet. I keep getting this message: "Cannot find server or DNS Error". I don't think I'm getting an IP address or a DNS. Also it keeps losing connection to the router periodically. I have another laptop connected to the router that has none of these problems

Here's what it says on my laptop:

    Windows IP Configuration
    -Host Name....................:Justin
    -Primary DNS Suffix..........:
    -Node Type....................:Hybrid
    -IP Routing Enabled..........:No
    -WINS Proxy Enabled........:No
    -
    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
    -Media State................:Media disconnected
    -Description.................:Broadcom 440x 10/100 Intergrated Controller

    Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection
    -Connection-specific DNS Suffix...:
-Description..............................: Dell Wireless 1500 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card
    -Dhcp Enabled...........................:Yes
    -Autoconfiguration Enabled..........:Yes
    -IP Address...............................:0.0.0.0
    -Subnet mask............................:0.0.0.0
    -Default Gateway.......................:

    And for my network status:
    -Connection status: Authenticating
    -Encryption type: AES: Key Absent
    -Connection type: Infrastructure
    -Speed: 270.0 Mbps
    -Channel: 3 (2.4 Ghz) [40Mhz]
-Radio Streams: 2x2 (TX x RX)
    -Gateway IP address: Not available
    -Client IP address: 0.0.0.0
    -Client IPv6 address: Not available

I'm going to reformat the laptop soon, so I'll see what happens after that.

    Thanks in advance

The 11n in firmware is very ifee. If there are any 11b/g in the area is should drop back to the 11g spec. Set the router to 11g only and see if it can connect. If still a problem. Verify that you firewall is not blocking your new sub net, may be different with a new router.

Dell fixed the problem. The guy got our router down to a/g and everything is working now.

Dropping to a/g removes the 11n part and makes it a std a/b/g card.

11n is just a waste of money. Mfg are using the general public as alpha testers to help fund their lack of engineering capability. Most all 11n currently out there is on the v1 pre 11n spec. None have released fw to the v2.0 pre 11n spec. Most hw is not capable of meeting the latest spec. This is the same cycle 11g went through when it came out. History repeats it's self.
