i tried setting up a linksys WRT54G but cant get connected to the internet. i did some searching and figured out how to copy my MAC address but it still wont work. i have a dsl connection and i read that i may need to input PPoE stuff, but my previous wired linksys router which i used for 6 years didnt need any of that so why would i have to put it in now?

sorry if this is a repetive question but i tried searching and it seems everyone who had this problem had it rectified after they copied their MAC address. that doesnt seem to be working for me :(

The connection info is entered under the WAN port settings, maybe advanced. Most DSL service requires the login info. But all of the routers within the last several years have a auto config the runs when you first set them up. I would suggest reseting back to factory and try again, if entering the PPPoE does not correct the problem.
